I got my class confirmation for Stitches Midwest the other day. I'm tentatively enrolled in the freeform knitting class. This year I'm taking just 1 class because (a) I don't want to spend the money on additional classes and (b) every year it gets harder to find classes that I haven't taken already. The classes I really want--that is, the ones taught by celebrity teachers like Sally Melville and Lily Chin--fill up within seconds, and I've never been able to get into one. Anyway, the real attraction of SMW is not the classes but the yarn market. No matter how many times I go, I'm always overwhelmed by the variety and selection of yarn available. It's almost too much to handle. Having too many choices makes it hard to make a decision. I still always end up spending a lot of money, though, which means that I need to watch my yarn spending between now and August.
