More Multi-Tasking

My summer book group is about to start, so I'm trying to get in a lot of reading this week. Last night I was reading our book and found myself fidgeting, so I thought "Eh, maybe I should just knit for a while." And then I thought, "Why not try both? Elizabeth Zimmerman could do it!" She wrote in "The Knitter's Almanac" that she often knitted while reading bedtime stories to her kids. So I propped the book up on my knees, held the knitting off to the side, and, lo and behold, it worked! I couldn't work on the Estonian lace scarf, of course, because that requires counting, but I was able to work on a baby blanket that involves nothing but knitting. I made a lot of progress on both the book and the blanket. I'm so proud of myself! I feel as if I have finally "arrived" as a knitter.

I'm sure you could do it if you practiced enough. ;-)
