I think I mentioned in a previous post that I'm going to be an aunt for the first time in October. It shouldn't be any surprise that I'm already knitting for my future niece or nephew. I decided to make the Elizabeth Zimmerman Baby Surprise sweater. I've made a few of these in the past and love the design. I'm making it in lime green and lavender stripes. The striping sequence is based on the Fibonacci Sequence (i.e., each number is the sum of the 2 numbers that preceded it). This is what I have so far.
I'm a little past the halfway point. The yarn is Cascade 220 Superwash wool. It's wonderful to work with; it has a great hand and doesn't split or untwist as you knit with it.
I'm also making a log cabin-style blanket. I bought Swish superwash wool from Knit Picks. I chose relatively dark colors because I wanted something that wouldn't show dirt too easily and would be suitable for an older child, not just a baby. I'm going to make a fairly big blanket in hopes that my niece/nephew can use it for many years.
As always, when I actually get this on the needles, I'll post pictures of it.
That's it for today. Happy Easter!
