Christmas Knitting

I finally sewed up my nephew's sweater and bought buttons for it. Now I just need to sew on the buttons and block it out. I also finished his matching hat. When it's all done, I'll post pictures.

I'm also working on a pair of wool socks for my sister. In all the years that I've been knitting, this is the first time she's ever asked me to knit something for her. The hardwood floors in her house are very cold, and she wants some warm socks to wear around the house this winter. She really wanted some red and white striped socks, so I looked around for self-striping yarn in those colors but had a terrible time finding any. I found some that was red, white, and blue and some that was red, white, and green, but none that was just red and white.

So she picked out some blue variegated yarn from my stash and I started a pair with that. I continued searching, however, and I finally found some yarn by Hill Country Yarns in a color way called "Candy Cane." I ordered it yesterday, and if it comes in on time, I'll make her a second pair of socks with it before Christmas. If it comes in too late, they'll be her birthday present.
