A New Year, Another Scarf

I don't know why I've been on this scarf-knitting kick lately. Maybe it's because I've been stressed out, and all my poor brain can handle these days is a simple rectangle. In any case, here's the latest creation:

I made it with 2 skeins of Urban Silk (80% silk, 20% cotton) by Skacel Collection. The colors are fig and raspberry. I cast on 251 stitches in raspberry and worked in seed stitch until I ran out of yarn and then switched to fig and knitted until I had just enough to bind off. It's about 4 inches wide and a good 5 feet long. The yarn is extremely soft and feels great next to the skin. I like how the nubby texture of seed stitch really helps the silk catch the light and adds some interest to an otherwise plain design.

As I did last year, I'm making a resolution to finish at least one of the projects that has been languishing in one of my many knitting bags for a long time. Since I've been knitting scarves, maybe the first thing I'll do is finish off that Shetland lace scarf I started 2 years ago. It's not a difficult pattern, but it requires concentration and uninterrupted time, which is why it has been hard to finish. My emotionally needy cat makes anything but the simplest knitting difficult to accomplish at home. I guess I need to start hanging out at coffee shops and knitting groups more often. Hey, that'll be my other new year's resolution.

Hope that 2008 is a great knitting year for all of you!

Everything looks great. I've been thinking about making a scarf very much like the braided one. The colors of the other are soooo me! Lovely!
