Ending the Silence (and Other Random Thoughts)

Long time no blog, my friends! Sorry for the long gap between posts. My life got a little crazy what with starting a new job, traveling, and being sick. I hope you've all been knitting some wonderful things in the meantime.

I'm still working on a couple of lace scarves for myself but I did take some time to knock out a few baby hats to send to Afghans for Afghans. The 3 on the bottom and the red-and-white striped one are all made with leftover sock yarn. The other two are bigger because they're made with worsted weight wool left over from various projects.

Unfortunately, I know I missed the deadline for their latest campaign, but I hope they can just hang onto these and ship them next time.

So, I found out that there's a knitting group here at my new job but I still haven't gone yet because I've wanted to enjoy the nice weather and get out and walk during lunch break. When it's 90 degrees in the shade, I'll stay inside and knit.

Speaking of hot weather, I can't decide whether to attend Stitches Midwest this August because they've moved it to a convention center that's completely inaccessible by public transportation. This means that I'll have to rent a car, and the expense associated with the rental will really cut into my yarn-buying money. I guess I'll see how I'm doing financially when the event gets closer. I doubt that I'll take classes this year, in any case. I find that taking a break once in a while is good, especially when you've taken as many SMW classes as I have. Pretty soon I'm going to run out of suitable classes to take. Maybe I should take this as a sign to attend Camp Stitches instead of Stitches Midwest....

However, I am going to a Lucy Neatby workshop sponsored by the Windy City Knitting Guild next month. I'll let you know what I think afterward.

Well, that's all the news on this end. I plan to get a lot of knitting done during this three-day weekend and wish the same for you. And please drive safely if you're traveling!
