Everyone Needs a Goal in Life

Right now, my goal is saving money to have some work done on my apartment and to buy a new couch. The old one is falling apart and is just embarrassing. It served me well, especially for a hand-me-down, but its time has almost come. In the meantime, I'm knitting an afghan to throw on the back of the couch I hope to buy. I'm calling it my Aspirational Blanket.

The pattern is the Moderne Log Cabin Blanket from the first Mason-Dixon Knitting book. The yarn is Cot Lin, a cotton-linen blend from Knit Picks, in the colors Creme Brulee, Bison, Pomegranate, and Moroccan Red. I'm thinking of getting a brown or tan couch and want to use some red pillows for accents, so that's why I chose brown and 2 shades of red for the blanket. The fourth color was a tough choice--I almost went with something less yellow and more beige--but I'm happy with how it looks.

It's going to be HUGE. I'm nowhere nearly done and it's already 4 feet long. But that's OK, because it will be nice to snuggle under it in the winter (especially since I'm such a cheapskate about keeping the heat turned down low).

Hi, Pip. It's getting really big. I've set it aside until the weather cools off a bit, because it's uncomfortable to have it on my lap.
