My Best Friend's Birthday

My best friend from high school turns 40 this year. The last time she was in Chicago for a visit, we went to Loopy Yarns, where she admired a knitting project bag, which as it turns out, was made by my friend Monica of Passionknit fame. I made a mental note of it, and a couple of weeks ago I went back and bought one of the bags for my friend.

It's a good thing I got there when I did, because it was the last of Monica's bags on the shelf. Also, it's the perfect color, because my friend like lime green. I decided to get her some luxury yarn, too. Both yarns in the photo are hand-dyed silk from Tilli Tomas. One has sequins, the other is plain, but they're from the same dye lot (the name of the yarn is "Plie" if you're curious), so my friend can use them together if she wishes. The yarns weren't cheap, but she deserves something special for her 40th, and I know she'd never buy anything so nice for herself. I can't wait to see her face when she opens it.
