Fingerless Gloves, Round 2

Before Christmas, my sister asked for two pairs of fingerless gloves. I was able to get one done in time for the holiday, but I told her the second pair would have to wait until her birthday, which is next week. She wanted black gloves, but (a) my tired old eyes can't handle knitting with black yarn (unless it's really chunky), and (b) you can't see a pattern or texture on black knits. All you can really do is a plain stockinette or garter stitch and I find that boring. Instead, I used some Knit Picks Felici self-striping sock yarn.

The color way is called Botany (I believe it has been discontinued because I don't see it on the Knit Picks site). I think they'll look good with the jeans she wears 99.9% of the time. I finished them just last night, and I'm meeting my sister today and taking her to Frontera Grill for lunch (she's a huge fan of Rick Bayless), so I didn't have time to wash and bock them, which explains why they look a bit uneven and lumpy. They look fine stretched out over my hands, though. I just hope she isn't too disappointed by the color. She can be a picky little person sometimes.

We finally got some snow here in Chicago--not much, but at least the ground is white. They say we're in for a big ice storm tomorrow, which will be my excuse to skip the gym and stay home and knit instead.
