I Have Been Knitting All Along

Sorry for the gap in blog posts. I have been knitting all this time, but I didn't finish anything worthy of posting. I did some work on a sweater or vest for myself but got frustrated at the neckline shaping and set it aside. Then I started making a scarf using leftover yarn from previous lace projects. I'm not sure where I'm going with it, but the fabric is very pretty.

However, I have set this scarf aside as well because a dear friend is expecting her first baby in January. I don't do baby blankets for everyone, but I will for her because we've known each other for so long and because she had a couple of pregnancy losses before this one, which is successful so far (*knock on wood*). I don't believe in the blue-for-boys and pink-for-girls nonsense, so I asked her which general color families she would prefer: brights, neutrals, pastels, earth tones, or jewel tones. She chose the jewel tones, so I ordered Knit Picks Swish DK yarn, which is my go-to yarn for baby projects, in Bordeaux, Cobblestone Heather, Twilight, and Jade.

I'm using the Baby Moderne log cabin blanket pattern from the first Mason-Dixon Knitting book. I think it's going to be a sophisticated blanket that the baby can use for many years.
