Christmas Dish Cloths

There are years when I'm either ambitious or broke (or both) and I knit gifts for everyone on my list, and then there are years like this one, where I just didn't have the time or energy and I buy gifts instead. There are two exceptions, however. I decided to make some Christmas-themed dish cloths for a couple of friends who have done me some good turns over the last year.

Both cloths will be used to wrap up some fancy soaps and then tied with festive ribbons. I made this gift for a few people back in 2009, and all the recipients loved it. I just wanted to do something nice to show these two ladies how much I appreciate them without giving them something so pricey that it would make them feel awkward or obliged to reciprocate.

In other knitting news, Lynette has organized a knitting retreat for the end of January. I'm so excited! I cannot wait to sit in that lodge in front of the fireplace and knit for hours on end. I've been thinking for a long time that I need a break and a vacation that doesn't involve traveling to see family, and then Lynette emailed me with this lovely idea. I'm ready to go now, in fact, but it will be my post-holiday treat to myself.

I hope your holiday knitting is going well. Just 12 days left! Get those needles clicking.
