Two Babies, Two Hats

What do I almost always do with leftover sock yarn? Make baby hats. A dear friend and former co-worker had a baby earlier this week. I've had this hat ready to go for a couple of months, and I mailed it to her yesterday.

Isn't that cute? I used 2 different yarns, one was red and white and the other was blue/purple/pink variegated. I just did simple stripes, and they blended together beautifully. It's very patriotic, no? Both of those yarns were ones I dug out of the stash, so I don't have the manufacturer's info any more.

This hat is for friends of a friend. We aren't especially close, but I've been to their house a couple of times, and they're a very sweet couple. They tried for years to have a baby and finally were blessed with a little boy a couple of months ago.

For this one, I used Knit Picks Felici in the color Stream Bed. I'm going to dinner at their place tonight and I finished this hat just 10 minutes ago, so now I don't have to show up empty-handed. I think it's really cute and I hope they like it.
