Well This Stinks

The Michael's store here in Hyde Park is closing. I am really upset. To my knowledge, it's the only place on the mid-south side where you can buy yarn and craft supplies. We really needed this resource in the neighborhood and it's a huge blow to lose it. I did take advantage of everything being 50% off and bought some more yarn for shawls yesterday.

I think I'll go back tomorrow during my lunch break and see what's still on the shelves. I can always use more sturdy, machine-washable yarn for charity projects. Often, you don't know who the recipient is and whether they are able or willing to hand wash something made with a more delicate yarn, so something machine washable is the safest route.

In happier news, I got a Knit Circus gift card from a dear friend for Christmas, and of course I used it to buy some gradient yarn. This is a set: Pumpkin Spice Latte on the left and Orange You Glad on the right.

I don't know what I'll make with them yet but I think it's enough yardage to do a scarf or small shawl.
