My niece is really into rainbows, as are many 6-year-old girls, and the last time I visited she requested a rainbow hat. I got a late start making it because the first shipment of yarn got lost in the mail, but it's done. I decided to make a big slouchy hat, but I'm not entirely happy with it.
It's fine but I knew I could do better. So I made a rib knit beanie. And then I figured, I'm already going to blow the deadline for Christmas so why not make a cowl, too?
I'm much happier with these 2 items than the first one, but I mailed all 3 to her yesterday. They won't arrive until Tuesday, but that's OK. I doubt she even remembers asking me for the rainbow hat, and she'll be excited to get an extra gift that no one else does the day after Christmas.
I have one more project to do before the end of the year. It's going to be a belated birthday/Xmas present for a friend I don't see very often. We have plans to meet up next week, and I want to give it to her then. A photo will be posted when it's done.
