Baby Gifts and Dish Cloths

A family at church had a baby in April, and I signed up to cook dinner for them a few weeks ago. I also wanted to give them a knitted gift, so I looked through my stash for a baby hat. I was sure I had at least half of dozen of them. After some fruitless searching, I remembered that I had donated all the baby hats I had on hand to a craft fair at church last fall. I decided to make a burp cloth instead of a hat. It's too warm for hats right now, but burp cloths can be used all year and are always necessary. I made a striped one using some Peaches & Creme cotton yarn from the stash.

It turned out beautifully and was very appreciated by the baby's mother.

I decided to use the leftover yarn to make a couple of dish cloths for myself. One of my old ones literally fell apart in my hands when I was using it to wipe down the counter recently.

I have quite a bit of this cotton yarn in my stash still so I think I'm going to do a few baby bibs and burp cloths to have on hand as gifts for the future. They're quick and easy and practical.
