I Said I Wasn't Gonna Buy More Yarn

But I am only human. A friend organized a yard sale with a ton of yarn a few weeks ago. Most of it was left over from a program that taught people incarcerated at Cook County Jail to knit and crochet. The county put the program on hiatus at the beginning of the COVID pandemic and has decided not to revive it for the foreseeable future. They didn't want to store the yarn at the jail any more so my friend took it home to sell and donate the proceeds to Committed Knitters.

The rest of the yarn was from an older friend of hers who is now too sick to knit or crochet. It makes me sad that she can't enjoy her hobbies any more, and I hope she finds some comfort in knowing that her yarn found new homes. I snagged these gems from her stash.

As usual, I don't have a project in mind, but there's more than enough yardage to make a big shawl for someone. I will find a use for it eventually. Right now I'm working on that birthday shawl for a friend. I'm nearly done so a photo will be posted soon.
