One More Cowl and Some Baby Hats

I found some ombre sock yarn from Knit Circus in my stash and decided to make a rib-knit cowl for myself. I doubled it and used size 7 needles. It's actually darker in real life than in the photo. Stuff always looks washed out in natural light.

Then I decided to use the little bits of yarn leftover from all those cowls to make some baby hats.

People keep having babies despite...everything. In fact, a young woman at church is expecting her first in April. She's coming over here next week, so I think I'll let her pick the hat she wants, rather than surprising her.

I am determined to keep using up stash yarn, so I started a scarf with some yarn I found stuffed in a bag that I forgot about. I don't have the labels, but I'm pretty sure the orange yarn is a wool-angora blend, and the burgundy is a laceweight wool. I decided to combine them to tone down the color changes in the orange  yarn.

I don't know yet whether I will keep this scarf for myself or give it away. Probably the latter. I have more scarves than I can wear in a lifetime at this point.

It has been very cold here in Chicago, and we've actually had some snow, which is unusual for winter nowadays. But it's supposed to get warmer next week, which is another reason I don't need to keep that scarf. It will be too warm for my menopausal self anyway. Somebody will enjoy it.
