I finished all of these items a while back but finally got around to washing and blocking them last weekend. First, I made this little cowl with yarn I got in Japan last year. I always try to buy yarn when I travel. It's the perfect souvenir: light and easy to squeeze into a suitcase, and every time I wear an item made of yarn I bought on a trip, I get to relive my memories.
I also made another green shawl (I know, I know) with some variegated yarn I bought on a trip to Galena, IL. There is a little yarn store tucked into the back of a Wicca store in their historic downtown. The solid green is some Knit Picks from my stash.
Finally, I made a cowl with some Atlas yarn from Modern Daily Knitting. The solid green is Jade, and the variegated is Mansfield's Garden Party. I found the broken rib pattern in one of my Barbara Walker stitch books. I thought it would look cool as stripes instead of a solid, and I was right. I love how it turned out.
Now I'm working on a blue striped shawl for a friend who recently got a breast cancer diagnosis. I'm hoping to get it to her before her surgery at the end of the month. I want her to have something warm and comforting as she goes through this ordeal.
